The Fall of Okenuth

The Rise and Fall of Okenuth happened and ended 1123 years ago, and the scars the Great Black Dragon has inflicted on Mediran have long since been healed. But the event is still taught to children even today by their parents, to tell them about the courage of the Dragonriders who sacrificed themselves to end the threat of the gigantic Black Dragon and his minions.

The war against was short but terrible, even the War of Dawn which lasted 10 years was nothing compared to the onslaught of the Black Dragons and their master. Over 1’000’000 people died while the Dragonriders, the only hope for Mediran, fought hard against the Great Black Dragon appropriately nicknamed ‘the Right Hand of Death’. The Dragonriders sacrifice was great, thousands of dragons and their riders died to bring the beast down, almost wiping out all of the non-black dragons of Mediran. But in the end, these sacrifices paid off when Lothel, armed with the legendary Gilvodur and accompanied by his Emerald Dragon, Kirith, fought and defeated the beast over the Frostspires Mountains in the Kingdom of Trumm.

What happened to the Right Hand of Death is unknown, as the body was never found. Legends say that in his dying rage, he created a volcano in which he buried himself.

After the Fall of Okenuth, dragons began to disappear from Mediran. No one knows whether they simply left or went instinct. It doesn’t matter why or how, as they are now Legends.
